About Denver Fire
We are thrilled to provide you with essential information about our fire district and the services we offer. Our fire district spans an area of 32.64 square miles, boasting an impressive 36 linear miles of shoreline along Lake Norman. Currently, our district is home to over 14,000 residents, resulting in an approximate population density of 428 people per square mile.
To ensure the safety of our community, the Denver Volunteer Fire Department is proud to employ a dedicated team consisting of 34 full-time, 20 part-time, and 14 volunteer firefighters and EMTs. Our main station, conveniently located on North Highway 16, serves as the central hub for our operations. Additionally, we have strategically positioned two substations within the fire district to optimize our response capabilities. For emergencies on the lake, our fire boat is stationed at the Fire Department’s dock on Webbs Chapel Church Road.
Each year, we respond to over 1,400 emergency calls, and this number continues to rise. As the district experiences significant growth, with property values exceeding $4.3 billion, we anticipate the demand for our services to increase further. Numerous large neighborhoods are either under construction or have received approval to begin development.
To effectively manage this growth, our dedicated team of seven board members, alongside our command staff, diligently monitor and assess the evolving emergency landscape. By remaining proactive rather than reactive, our goal is to meet the ever-expanding needs of our district and deliver prompt, professional service to all.
Our fleet of emergency apparatus is instrumental in safeguarding our citizens. We have four Fire Engines, one Ladder Truck, one Heavy Rescue vehicle, three Support Trucks, one Brush Truck, and a 29ft 1,500gpm Fire Boat, among other support vehicles. These resources are utilized daily to ensure the protection and well-being of everyone within our fire district.
We invite you to visit any of our fire department locations and meet the incredible staff who work tirelessly to keep you safe. Your safety is our top priority, and we take great pride in serving our community with dedication and professionalism.
Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to assisting you whenever you need us.
